War on Christmas Still Rages

IN THE PUBLIC ARENA

Yes, you read that right. One month into the New Year and the War on Christmas is still rearing its ugly head. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) is at it again, proving to be unrelenting in its efforts to remove Christ from Christmas.

Last November, the FFRF sent the small city of Jewett, Texas, a threatening letter demanding that the city remove a Nativity scene on display in the city park.
In response, the Jewett City Council quickly convened and voted to leave the Nativity scene as it stood. Many residents of Jewett supported the city council, with several displaying Nativity scenes in their own yards as signs of encouragement.

It would seem as if this case would be closed, but just a few days ago, FFRF sent another threatening letter to the city of Jewett on behalf of an individual who is still upset by the Nativity scene.

Liberty Institute stands with the city, and will continue to assist and advise city officials in their response to FFRF.

Unfortunately, we see cases like this more and more – and not just at Christmastime. Groups like FFRF, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the ACLU have become more aggressive in their attacks on religious expression in the public square and the First Amendment. The good news, however, is that we can win if people are bold enough and willing to stand.

Please pray for our legal team, which works tirelessly to empower cities and towns across America with the knowledge of their First Amendment rights. All too often, cities and towns cave in to the demands of these aggressive groups to avoid costly lawsuits, but Liberty Institute can help free of charge. We just need your help to spread the word!

So, please, share our information with your friends and family, and if you know of any city or town facing religious hostility, have them call us at 972-941-4444 or email us at info@libertyinstitute.org.

Also, please continue to give. Because Liberty has very low operating expenses and benefits from donated time from world-class attorneys, we leverage your donation so that it is worth double whatever you give. Every gift, no matter the size, goes a long way in our continued effort to defend and restore religious liberty in America.
