Yes, You Can Talk About God at Graduation!

Graduation speakers should contact Liberty Institute to stop discrimination

Public high schools have a sad history of telling graduation speakers they can’t pray or mention God.  But Liberty Institute has a history of defending and restoring those rights!

Here are a few examples of outrageous and illegal violations of religious rights in the schools that our attorneys have already defended and restored for people of faith:

JUDGE THREATENS TO JAIL GRADUATION SPEAKER—BUT SHE WINS

In 2011, a federal judge threatened Angela Hildenbrand, a model high school student and valedictorian, with jail if she prayed during her graduation speech.

On June 3, 2011, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit overturned the judges’ ruling, allowing Hildenbrand (represented by Liberty Institute) to offer a prayer during her graduation speech and permitting her to exercise her constitutional right to freely express her religious beliefs.

SCHOOLS TURNS OFF GRADUATION SPEAKER’S MICROPHONE—THEN PAY THE PRICE

When high school senior Remington Reimer began to talk of the Constitution and his faith in his valedictory address, school officials shut off his microphone, prohibiting him from exercising his free speech and religious liberty rights.  Liberty Institute stepped in to help, and the school district superintendent issued a formal apology.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND KEEP THEM!

You can be part of restoring religious liberty in our schools.  Get Your KNOW YOUR RELIGIOUS RIGHTS KIT and Defend Your Freedom.  Please take a moment now to download your free "Know Your Religious Rights Kit".

The Kit will fully equip students, parents, and teachers to know their religious liberties in the public schools—which is the key first stop to defend and restore those rights when they come under attack.

Restoring religious freedom in public schools can happen, and in many cases is happening as Americans wake up to the freedoms recognized by the law.
